The Ozil goal, move by move

The goal behind the trend comes from a 2016 Champions League match, when Mesut Özil chipped an onrushing goalkeeper, slipped past two defenders racing back and rolled the ball into an empty net. It is short, clean and easy to recognise, which is why it turned into a template for AI videos.

Move 01

The chip

The goalkeeper rushes out and the ball floats over his head. It is the move everyone remembers first.

Move 02

The defenders

Two defenders chase back along the goal line and are left behind by one calm change of direction.

Move 03

The finish

A soft touch rolls the ball into the empty net, followed by the celebration that makes the clip shareable.

Ozilgoal keeps those three moves and changes the player. You upload a photo, and the AI builds a new 15-second clip around you, in the clothes you are wearing in the photo. It is not a cut of the original broadcast, so the clip is meant to have no scoreboard and no broadcaster logo in the frame.

Because the clip is generated, every result is a little different. The camera angle, the stadium and the exact run can change from one video to the next, so you can make a few and keep the one you like best.

Can I post it on TikTok, Reels or Shorts?

Yes. The file is a vertical 9:16 MP4, the same shape TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts expect, and it has no watermark added by us. Post it as an AI-made video and do not present it as real match footage.

Four tips for a better result

  • Use a recent photo where your face is clearly visible and not covered by a hat or sunglasses.
  • Stand straight on to the camera, with your whole body and your shoes in the frame.
  • Pick even light. Strong shadows and heavy filters make the face harder to keep consistent.
  • Try a second outfit if the first result is not funny enough. A suit, pajamas or a costume all change the joke.

What photo works best?

Just you

One person only. Group photos and crowds confuse the scene.

Full body, shoes in frame

A standing full-length shot gives the best run-up and finish. Half-body selfies work, but the shoes may be invented.

Good, even light

Face visible, no heavy filters or sunglasses. A plain background helps.

Your outfit is the joke

Suits, pajamas and mascot costumes all work. The bigger the contrast with a footballer, the funnier the clip.

Only photos of yourself

We only use your photo to make your video. Please upload photos of yourself, not of celebrities or anyone else.

Failed? Credits back

If a video does not render, the credits for it return to your balance automatically.
